Abe’s belly was rumbling with hunger. He hadn’t had time for breakfast this morning because he’d slept late, and since then he’d been as busy as usual. At least now he had Charles to help him, maybe he’d find time to cross a few things off his endless to do list. Shit, he was hungry. But he wouldn’t weaken and eat yet. He knew Mel would get him whatever he wanted from the café upstairs if he asked her, but it’d passed the time when she always got her own coffee, and he knew she preferred to stay out of sight once the bath house was filled with clients.
She was an absolute treasure of an assistant and he never wanted her to leave, but he knew she was a little uncomfortable being a female in a gay bath house with a clothing optional policy.
Maybe he’d run down to the store in a little while, buy himself some healthy snacks. Although they never tasted as nice as Roger’s concoctions. But he had put on weight. His belly wasn’t as taut as it used to be. Since he’d turned forty it seemed harder and harder not to put on extra weight. Likely he spent too much time sitting on his fat ass instead of running up and down the stairs. Although he’d had plenty of exercise last night. Both running up and down the stairs and being fucked by the most delicious man he’d ever known. A man with a story that he wanted to hear more about. Well likely they’d talk more tonight.
Abe’s stomach rumbled again and he felt almost ill with hunger. He buzzed Mel. There was the distinct sound of her swallowing which made him feel even hungrier, before she asked, “Hi Abe. What do you need?”
“Can you please ask Zeph to bring down something that will fill me up and has zero calories?”
“I can ask, but likely all you’ll get is a gallon of water. How about I get him to do the best he can for you?”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Don’t beat yourself up, Abe. You aren’t fat, and you need nutrients to have the energy to run the bath house or we’ll all be out of work.”
That was true. He did need the energy to focus on his job. But likely a bottle full of vitamin pills would deal with that. Determinedly, he pulled up the file of paperwork he ought to be dealing with.
